Meyer-Optik Görlitz Lenses
The Meyer-Optik Gorlitz - one of Germany's most renowned lens manufacturer - was always in a special competition to Zeiss in Jena, the Jena mostly undeserved shadow. Only once did the Gorlitzer a major coup when they were lured away in 1920, Dr. Paul Rudolph (the Tessar design engineer) from Jena. Dr. Rudolph Meyer calculated for the superior optical performance for its world-famous Plasmat.
Kine with macro-PlasmatMeyer went through an eventful history. Founded as "Optical-Mechanical Institute" by Hugo Meyer in the Neisse-Görlitz in Upper Lusatia, the company operated long as Hugo Meyer & Co, Görlitz. Since 1896, there were already built powerful lenses, the 4-Linser "Aristostigmat" Meyer made famous, followed by some of the popular set of lenses in 1900. The first during the World War II developed purebred triplet trio plan was decades in the manufacturing program.
