Very good mirror lens, color and sharpness just excellent. Hand held shoot not easy because focal length is 500mm and max aperture only f/8, but usable. This lens almost same light weight than any normal objective this means, convince to bring anywhere. Rotating tripod ring can only apply to the earlier model 55B, the ring being absent on the 55BB. |

This lens in production long time ago, this time still available as brand new from many Russian sellers. My copy also one of the latest MC version with auto and manual mode.I thought based on the pictures what I found on Pbase.com this should be an interesting quality lens.

True 1:1 macro lens never been cheaper than old non-AI Nikkor lenses. Watch out Ebay frequently and if you are lucky you will be a proud owner of this lens as I am.

Nowadays you can get for bargain on Ebay or local camera shops.This lens was quite popular from middle of '60. It was targeted for every day usage for advanced photographers, I guess used by many professionals too because much easier to handle than faster lenses. |

I feel lucky I got Carl Zeiss Jena Fernobjektiv as Christmas gift to myself, this lens is very rare in any condition with any mount, but my copy is almost MINT and it has NIKON mount. This means I have an other ultra rare lens in my collection.
